Topping-out ceremony for the Hertie School of Governance in the Robert Koch Forum

Topping-out ceremony on the construction site of the Robert Koch Forum – a joint research trip

The renovation of the listed Robert Koch Forum for the Hertie School of Governance to move in is more than just a construction project for everyone involved – it is a research trip into the past. Before the building work begins, many layers of history have to be uncovered – layers that need to be discovered with great curiosity. Because as Marie Curie aptly said: ‘Nothing should be feared, only understood.’ This week, we celebrated the topping-out ceremony for this exciting renovation and remodelling project.

In order to develop future-proof solutions, we need to understand the history and structures that characterise the building. Only by looking at the past can we create sustainable and innovative paths for the future. We would like to thank all our partners and those involved for their commitment, especially BIM Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH. Together, we are not only building buildings, but also developing a sustainable understanding of our building culture. The entire team is motivated to move on to the next stage of completing the new Hertie School of Governance campus.

Space for creativity. Working environments in transition

Hot off the press: “Space for creativity. Working environments in transition.” We are delighted that our project ‘Bürocampus WPP Headquarters MIZAL’ in Düsseldorf is part of the curated selection in this new book by Deutscher Architektur Verlag.

The office campus marks the entrance to Düsseldorf’s media harbour as a landmark that shapes the cityscape. With 52,000 m2 of usable space, MIZAL, developed by CODIC Development, combines pioneering building technology with an inspiring employee experience. An energy-optimised cavity façade of the latest generation, designed as a closed cavity façade (CCF), frames the headquarters of the world’s leading advertising holding company WPP, which is up to eleven storeys high. The highlights of the sophisticated sustainability concept, which has been awarded the DGNB Gold certificate, include extensive roof gardens and one of the largest fully automated car parking systems in Germany.
